Skyld has officially joined Capgemini’s OMNISS initiative
This meeting at Capgemini’s Chalet, during Farnborough International Airshow marked an important milestone for the future of interoperable and sovereign mission systems.
Alongside 19 organisations spanning AI, cybersecurity, embedded software, robotics and systems engineering, Skyld signed a Letter of Interest to join the OMNISS (Open Mission Network for Interoperability, Security and Sovereignty) initiative led by Capgemini.
As autonomous platforms become increasingly software-defined and AI-driven, interoperability can no longer come at the expense of sovereignty or security. OMNISS was created to address this challenge by bringing together complementary technology leaders around a common vision: an open, modular software framework that allows command-and-control systems, autonomous platforms, sensors, AI applications and mission software to seamlessly interoperate while preserving each participant’s intellectual property and avoiding vendor lock-in.
Rather than replacing existing technologies, OMNISS aims to connect them. Members of the ecosystem will collaboratively define the technical roadmap, develop operational use cases, share expertise, contribute to interoperability standards and validate integrations through dedicated experimentation environments.
Skyld’s contribution: protecting autonomous systems’ AI itself
Within OMNISS, Skyld brings a unique and critical capability: protecting embedded artificial intelligence.
Interoperability allows autonomous systems to exchange information and operate together. But trust in those systems also depends on the integrity of the AI models making operational decisions.
As AI increasingly runs directly on edge devices (whether inside autonomous vehicles, drones, industrial robots or other embedded systems) it becomes exposed to new types of cyber AI threats. Indeed, models can be easily extracted, reverse engineered, copied or manipulated through adversarial attacks, potentially compromising both intellectual property and operational reliability.
Skyld addresses this challenge by providing a software protection layer that secures AI models not only at rest but also during execution.
By combining interoperability through OMNISS with trusted AI protection from Skyld, organisations can collaborate within an open ecosystem without sacrificing the security of the intelligence embedded in their systems.
